The Winery
We are a team that has an opinion on just about everything and our respective stories contribute to the telling over a glass of wine as to how we got into the winegrowing and winemaking business. What we all have in common is that focused interest in growing and making only the best wine possible.
Gary Dennison - Proprietor/Winemaker
Took up winegrowing and winemaking late and is now in catch-up mode. Normally found designing Air Traffic Control systems and in this pursuit made his first Burgundy in Libya. The rest is History. Point Bush Estates is the realization of a long held dream and he gets really passionate about his wine to the point of obsession but then Techies are like that. Played rugby and cricket and did surf-lifesaving as you do and now its keelboating and windsurfing. Waimate will be the Pinot capital of New Zealand and the world. Watch this space. |

Ann Dennison- Manager
Liked Gary’s Burgundy and saw the unrealized potential. Provides the artistic oversight always necessary in realization of one’s dreams. Aspires to Outdoor Concerts to picnic by so watch this space. It could be coming to a country town near you. Ann keeps everyone healthy and the Lodge across the road available for functions and guests.
Matthias Friedel - Guest Winemaker
Matthias hails from near Munich in Germany and came to us via Mexico. Has embraced the Kiwi "Can Do" attitude with spades and the 2008 and 2009 wines express Matt's interpretation of "class in a glass".

Our Wines
Our wines are produced both from Estate grapes as well as contracted sites.
Estate grapes are the result of a labour of love and with fine silt soils over clay, there is a very special terroir. For non-Estate grapes, they are carefully selected for their particular mix of varietal, topography, soil and microclimate – creating high quality, site-specific wines of individual character and drinkability. This approach is styled on the negociant houses of Burgundy and the Rhone Valley in France, where the careful selection of non-estate-grown small parcels of fruit for winemaking is a long-held tradition.
Attention to detail is key. We work closely with each grower to ensure that vines are cropped low and sustainably managed, guaranteeing the best quality fruit possible from each vineyard site. These are exceptional wines from exceptional regions.
